[ARCHIVED] River and Beach Re-OPEN

Welcome Back to the Beach

The City of Yachats announces that the Yachats Beach and River are officially re-opened after receiving low and safe test results for bacteria such as Enterococcus and Fecal Coliform. The tests were conducted daily at 10 locations from the time of the Sanitary Sewer Overflow on November 9th. The tests showing low and safe numbers were taken on November 15th, with results coming in on Saturday, November 16th.

Our Public Works team acted swiftly upon being alerted to the spill. They closed off access to the beach and river, cleaned up the spill, and notified the public through various communication platforms, including paper, radio, and social media. Additionally, they applied hydrated lime to disinfect the affected area of any pathogens.

We have taken this incident very seriously and have implemented additional protocols to prevent occurrences in the future. The safety and well-being of our residents and visitors are our top priorities.

Thank you for your patience and understanding during this time. We look forward to welcoming you back to the Yachats Beach and River for safe and enjoyable recreational activities.
